In 2022, FIRMA Engineering hosted a successful demonstration of the integration between FIRMA’s FIRMArm remote access tool and Rawwater’s Molten Metal Manipulation (M3) sealing technology to a delegation from Sellafield Ltd (SL) and National Nuclear Laboratory (NNL).
The marriage of these two technologies provides a unique opportunity for plant maintenance staff to carry out repairs on live leaks, at remote locations, reducing risks in terms of operator safety and ongoing damage to infrastructure, not to mention cost savings when compared to conventional approaches.
Notably both technologies were originally developed through sponsorship by Sellafield Gamechangers with the support of #fis360; evidence of high yield returns on investment when considering effective nurture of true innovative SMEs.
