Richard Carter – Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Richard joined FIRMA Engineering in September 2023 after graduating from University of Sheffield with a MEng (Hons I) Aerospace Engineering. His final year project was titled “Rocket motor thermodynamic cycle development and topology optimisation”, and involved process design and work on a student-built engine. Richard was involved with several interesting projects throughout his degree course, engaging with aerodynamic and structural design of several UAVs, as well as an eco-marathon battery electric vehicle. These projects involved use of industry software packages such as Autodesk Fusion 360, Ansys Fluent and MATLAB. He will be engaged in a wide variety of tasks in FIRMA, working towards advancing technical projects for the business.
