We are an engineering company established to address the increasing requirement for high integrity design and detailed structural analysis, particularly within heavily regulated industries such as nuclear and aerospace. As an SME we are able to provide a flexible and open relationship to our clients while upholding our core principles of professionalism and high-quality delivery, especially within markets where a high level of risk is present in terms of product safety and commercial loss.

We are also aware that this cannot be at the expense of the deadlines that make a project commercially viable for the client. We will therefore provide transparent and accurate project management to the client at all times. This approach is a result of the many collective years of experience gained in the most challenging engineering environments.

History

FIRMA Engineering Limited was formed in 2013 as a technical consultancy delivering specialist structural analysis services, mainly targeting nuclear decommissioning and aerospace sectors.

The three founding members have over 30 years mechanical engineering experience each, having worked up to senior levels to deliver on both prominent civil and defence aerospace projects and innovative future technologies.

Changes in market forces encouraged FIRMA to diversify, to serve a wider range of industries, now including defence and construction. During our journey FIRMA has seen a growing emphasis to offer bespoke design solutions to clients and to explore research & development (R&D) activities. FIRMA has found that this more fully utilises the value of existing skills sets within the company.

As a result, FIRMA has been involved in several R&D projects since 2017 two of which have been inhouse and jointly funded by FIRMA and appropriate R&D funding streams. Both projects have realised proof of concept devices and one has led to an operational prototype which has been used in an active nuclear environment.

Operationally, FIRMA Engineering aims to achieve continual improvement of our processes, services, and communication through adherence to our Quality Management System by using a framework of established and reviewed objectives.

FIRMA has recently begun to explore overseas markets to promote the export both our consultancy services and the FIRMArm remote deployment system. In 2022 we engaged with Canadian, US, European and East Asian markets, enjoying support from the UK Department of International Trade.
