Liam Hale – Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Liam joined FIRMA Engineering in September 2023 after graduating from University of Shefield with a BEng (Hons I) Aerospace Engineering. His final year dissertation was “An investigation into the fatigue performance of additively manufactured aerospace alloys”. During this dissertation, Liam used advanced statistical analysis methods to explore the low cycle fatigue properties of Nickel superalloys that were manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF), also investigating the effect of Hot Isostatic pressing on fatigue life. Liam carried out a poster presentation on these findings at the annual Manufacture by Advanced Powder Processing (MAPP) conference to academics and industry leaders in attendance. Throughout University, Liam used industry standard software such as Autodesk Fusion 360, Ansys, MATLAB and Python. Liam was involved with several interesting group projects throughout his degree course such as designing quadcopters and the preliminary design of airliners and will be engaged in a wide variety of tasks in the business, working towards advancing technical projects for the business.
